“The UNC Charlotte Department of Educational Leadership faculty is happy to be able to reach out to the educators interested in school leadership in close proximity to Gaston College. Because most of our students are working full-time, it is great to find a location convenient for them to receive face-to-face instruction from our quality staff.  We value our district partnerships and strive to offer the very best preparation for school leadership.”

Program Overview

pending SACSCOC approval

UNC Charlotte’s College of Education and the office of Distance Education is offering a Master of School Administration to be hosted at Gaston College in Gaston County staring Summer II 2016 pending SACSCOC approval.  The MSA degree is a 39 credit hour part-time program that can be completed in 3 years. The MSA degree program consists of courses in educational leadership, research, technology, curriculum, law and instruction followed by a 12 credit year-long internship under the direction of a principal-mentor and a university supervisor.

The internship challenges students to demonstrate a thorough and well-integrated understanding of the principles, research findings, and theories addressed in their coursework and to apply these to educational practice and leadership situations. The internship provides a multitude of opportunities for the intern to progressively develop administrative competence and experience.

Program graduates qualify for a PreK-12, Level 1 School Administrator’s license (NC 012-Principal).
