The Master of Arts in Teaching Middle and Secondary Education is for educators who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Middle and Secondary Education Program at UNC Charlotte. The M.A.T. is Phase II of the Teaching Middle and Secondary Program offered through distance education. Students can complete the seven additional courses (21 hours) to complete the 39-hour master’s degree program in an online format.
The M.A.T. leads to the Advanced (“M”) teaching license. The Master of Arts in Teaching may be entered once the Graduate Certificate in Teaching is completed at UNC Charlotte. All coursework must be completed in a six year timeframe, beginning with the first course taken in the Graduate Certificate Program. All core courses taken for the Graduate Certificate will apply to the M.A.T.
