Middle Grades & Secondary Education Licensure Online Program
Next admission: Currently accepting applications for Middle/Secondary Graduate Certificate (English, Math, Science & Social Studies) and new Phase I M.A.T. (Math, Science, & Social Studies) candidates; for all available semesters.
ONE BUSINESS DAY, PRIOR TO APPLICATION SUBMISSION, prospective students must complete the online form Let The Distance Education Office Know About You.
North Carolina public school teachers with provisional or emergency licensure, North Carolina teachers wishing to change licensure fields, and North Carolina geographically located individuals who are changing careers to become teachers, can either complete the 18-hour Standard Professional I License Requirement for middle grades or secondary education or pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.), “M” level, through online/distance education courses. The online Graduate Certificate in Teaching Program areas of concentration are English, Math, Social Studies or Science. For the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.), in the areas of Math, Social Studies and Science, students can complete (at least) thirty credit-hours (of the required 39) in an online format.
