Program Overview
The Special Education (K-12): General Curriculum graduate certificate is a 21 credit hour graduate level program that meets the requirements for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Standard Professional I initial teaching license. The General Curriculum is for those who have a desire to work with students who have mild intellectual disability, learning disabilities, and/or emotional/behavioral disorders.
Who would benefit from this program?
- The program is designed for current (Residency Teachers) and aspiring special education teachers who hold a Bachelor’s degree and are interested in obtaining a North Carolina teaching license.
- The curriculum also supports residency teachers in North Carolina school districts who must enroll in a teacher preparation program while teaching.
What can I expect to learn in this program?
- Teachers licensed in the General Curriculum teach students who have mild intellectual disability, learning disabilities, and/or emotional/behavioral disorders
